The beginning of the season is an ideal moment to start planning a winter escape. Particularly for travellers hoping to visit during the busy Christmas, ew Year and February holiday periods.

Here are a few things that can help you elevate your experience, overall.

Choose The Right Timing.

Early-season skiing can offer the excitement of the first days on snow but the terrain is often limited. Later dates may provide you with more access and flexibility for your travels and potentially snowfall.

No period guarantees particular conditions.

Match The Resort To Your Travel Style.

Consider whether skiing is the principal focus or just one element of your stay. Aspen, Vail and Beaver Creek all offer different combinations so take a look and see what works for you.

  • Mountain Access.
  • Hospitality.
  • Off-Slope Activities.

Prioritise Location.

Accommodation close to the lifts can simplify mornings and reduce transport logistics. Travellers further away should consider travel times, transfers, road conditions and parking arrangements.

Book Around The Experience.

Restaurant reservations, spa appointments, ski lessons, equipment rental and airport transfers should all be arranged in advance so your travel is smooth with no problems.

Prepare For Altitude.

Colorado’s ski areas sit at high elevations and altitude can affect how travellers feel – and perform. Allow yourself time to acclimatise and stay hydrated.

Check Conditions.

Before travelling and during, check the conditions. Ski terrain, lifts and road access can change. Look at official resort details and hotels.

Thoughtful planning allows you to spend more time enjoying yourself rather and the destination.

Winter escapes have started and it’s time to plan yours.
